The Difference Between Vacuum Insulated Flasks And Ordinary Insulated Flasks

Difference 1: Thermal Insulation Performance. The defining characteristic of a vacuum-insulated mug is its ability to retain both cold and heat; a mug with a high degree of vacuum efficiency can maintain its temperature for up to 10 hours. Ordinary insulated mugs, conversely, possess lower thermal retention capabilities; they dissipate heat more rapidly than vacuum mugs, typically maintaining their temperature for only about two to three hours.

 

Difference 2: Materials. A vacuum-insulated mug consists simply of a vessel body composed of stainless steel and a vacuum layer. This vacuum layer serves to retard the dissipation of heat from internal liquids-such as water-thereby achieving the objective of thermal insulation. Ordinary insulated mugs, however, are available in a wide variety of materials, most commonly including stainless steel, ceramics, plastics, glass, and purple clay (Zisha).

 

Difference 3: Operating Principle. Vacuum-insulated mugs are typically constructed from stainless steel and a vacuum layer, featuring a double-walled design comprising an inner liner and an outer shell. Welding technology is employed to bond the inner liner to the outer shell; subsequently, vacuum technology is utilized to evacuate the air from the interstitial space between the two layers, thereby creating a vacuum that facilitates thermal insulation. The insulated mug evolved from the traditional thermos flask; while the underlying principle of thermal insulation remains identical to that of a thermos, the design was adapted into a mug format to enhance user convenience. Within the insulated mug, a silvered inner lining reflects the thermal radiation emitted by hot water. The vacuum situated between the inner liner and the outer body effectively blocks heat conduction, while the low thermal conductivity of the bottle material itself prevents heat convection.

 

Difference 4: Price Point. Generally, the ordinary insulated mugs sold in the market serve a purely basic thermal retention function. After being filled with hot water, they typically maintain their temperature for only two to three hours. The price of such ordinary insulated mugs differs significantly from that of vacuum-insulated mugs. When making a purchase, consumers should exercise vigilance and carefully vet the vendors selling insulated mugs, avoiding impulse purchases from random street stalls. These inexpensive, ordinary insulated mugs often fail to provide reliable assurances regarding either safety or thermal insulation performance.

 

Difference 5: Tactile Sensation. Pour boiling water into the mug, wait one minute, and then touch the exterior surface of the vessel: if the exterior feels hot to the touch, it is not a vacuum-insulated mug, but merely a simple, ordinary insulated mug; conversely, if the exterior remains cool to the touch, it is indeed a vacuum-insulated mug. A vacuum-insulated mug can typically retain heat for over six hours, with high-efficiency models capable of maintaining their temperature for approximately 10 hours.
