Stainless steel thermal mugs are relatively convenient to use; as they lack a vacuum layer, there is no need to be mindful of the mug's orientation (e.g., whether it is upright or inverted). Vacuum thermal mugs, however, require attention regarding their placement orientation-typically, they should be positioned with the opening facing downward to ensure optimal insulation performance. Furthermore, cleaning vacuum thermal mugs is slightly more complex than cleaning stainless steel ones, as care must be taken to avoid damaging the vacuum layer.

The inner liner and outer shell of stainless steel thermal mugs are typically both constructed from stainless steel. In contrast, vacuum thermal mugs offer a wider variety of material options for their inner liners and outer shells, including stainless steel, glass, ceramics, and various other materials.
